Blog

Hello, and welcome to my very first blog.  The great thing about a blog is a chance to tell our story. Despite writing about my thoughts and experiences for a long time, I have not yet shared this with others in this way, so I am excited. I have been wanting to begin this project for several years, and I’m thrilled that it is finally beginning to take shape.  I have envisaged this space to be the introduction to my current writing project which is a memoir of my experiences as a children’s speech and language therapist.  I don’t know about you, but I love reading occupational memoirs which give me an insight into the working life of someone who spends their days doing something totally unfamiliar to me.  I find it fascinating to put myself in their shoes and imagine things that they do and experiences they have.  I am always struck by the similar themes that seem to come to light showing me that we, as humans, we have encounters that resonate with each other despite the differences between different industries and sectors of the working world.  Some of my favourite such memoirs are, Hard Pushed by Lead Hazard, This is Going to Hurt by Dr. Adam Kay and All That Remains by Sue Black.  I aspire to create something wonderful that touches others as these authors touched me, but at the very least, I can tell my story in my own words which I look forward to sharing with you.  I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and hope that some of my stories make you laugh or maybe even cry but definitely inspire you to explore something wonderful as you join me on my journey.
