I am proud to announce I am working on a non-fiction book! From Connection to Communication: How Attachment Transforms Language Development is a non-fiction book exploring the way attachment impacts communication development.
This project has been over a decade in the development. I have been passionate about attachment theory and how it links with communication development for decades, and this passion really ignited when I had my own children and spent time reading and researching attachment theory and parenting trends and approaches. I reflected on how these approaches complemented natural child development and of course specifically regarding communication which is my life’s work.
About 10 years ago, I spent some time developing a book proposal for a theory to application book about this topic that would be for parents and teachers as well as anyone interested in communication development. But life with 3 children got busy and the idea was left simmering on the back burner while my book proposal sat in a folder on my computer untouched. Recently I have been inspired by speaking to other therapists who have published books and being around them inspired me to have another look at this dormant project. So, I finally decided to take a chance on my book idea and completed my book proposal and sent it off to the editor hoping they would accept it. To my delight, they offered to publish my book, so now I am in the process of writing the full manuscript. With a deadline next year, I have mapped out my plans to complete it and am already enjoying the research, writing and immersing myself in a long-loved topic close to my heart.
I will share further updates around this in due course, but in the meantime, I wanted to share that I will be working behind the scenes on this alongside my other projects. If you are interested in this, please feel free to get in touch.
